New Suppliers Added To The King Scientific Product Offering

Today is a new dawn in lab supply. Following the acquisition of Sigma Aldrich by Merck approx. 18 months ago. In order for the acquisition by Merck to take place competition laws required the Sigma Aldrich portfolio to be split and part of the product range divested out to another supplier.

The easiest way to remove the volume of products required from the Sigma Aldrich product range to comply with competition law was to remove all the products Honeywell manufactured for Sigma Aldrich totalling around 7000 products.

Honeywell Research Chemicals are thus the new name in lab supply although they have been manufacturing many of the widely known brands for Sigma Aldrich for many years.

What this means to laboratory end users?

From today all the Riedel de Haen , Fluka, and Chromasolv ranges of products are NO LONGER available through Sigma Aldrich. However the good news is because we are both Sigma Aldrich and Honeywell distributers the full original Sigma Aldrich range including the 7000 divested out Honeywell products are available from King Scientific. You can order all the products you previously ordered from Sigma Aldrich and let us do the re-sourcing of the divested products to make your day to day ordering easier.

There are also other bonuses to ordering your lab supplies through King Scientific; No Minimum Order charge! No Order Handling Charge! No Delivery Charge!

101 uses for a conical flask!

King Scientific are suppliers of Laboratory Equipment.  Our product range of Laboratory Glassware is growing all the time on our new websiteConical Flasks or Erlenmeyer Flasks have been one of our most popular items for some time now.

In a recent conversation with a customer it became obvious that many buyers are not using them for what we might be used to as laboratory suppliers.

This is the inspiration for our latest blog where we explore a staggering 101 uses for a common conical flask!

What is the appeal of a conical shape flat bottomed glass flask with a cylindrical neck!?  It might sound rather dull to the unimaginative mind but thanks to a German chemist called Emil Erenmeyer we can have this discussion.

#1: Rain Gauge (Rain Catcher)

Rain in the school holidays can often spell disaster for parents & childminders.  Why not make a simple rain gauge with a 1 litre conical flask and a plastic funnel (also available on our website).  After a few days of the British weather you can show the kids how much rain has fallen & discuss the impact of global warming on our environment.

Keep checking back for further instalments of 101 uses for a conical flask!

King Scientific have recently added a full range of polypropylene beakers to our ever increasing range of laboratory plastics.

There are several features to note which allow this laboratory essential to have a multitude of uses around the home, kitchen, garage & garden:

  • Autoclavable at 121°C
  • Pouring spout
  • Printed graduations (in bold blue for easy reading)
  • Stackable for easy & tidy storage

Plastic Beaker

Of course for many the key feature is that they are constructed from hard wearing polypropylene – very difficult to break (a definite advantage over glass where safety is important).  So if you are pouring, storing, stirring or mixing check out our full range here.

Sizes available are 50ml; 100ml; 250ml; 500ml; 1000ml; bigger sizes available by request!
